It was a large turnout of participants from various wards of the Local Government with Stakeholders ready to lend a voice and played their roles in the developmental activities happening around their wards.
The Executive Chairman who was unavoidably absent but ably represented by the Vice Chairman Omooba Adeola Adetoro Adeyanju in his address recounted his achievements and appraised the budget performance for last year to the admirations of the stakeholders in attendance, he thereafter enjoined them to participate actively in the interactive session as all their pressing needs would be noted and planned for in order of priority.
The participants were full of praises, they showered accolades on the Bankole Led administration, stating that as human beings whose demands remains insatiable would like to request for more. Some of the requests dwelled on are
- Continuous/ Prompt Disilting of drainages and clearing of blocked Canals in areas like Ajiran, Jakande, Igbokushu, Gedegede, Iroko-Awe etc.
- Construction of motorable access roads in areas that serves as alternative routes which no doubt would further help ease traffic gridlock along major roads like Gbolagas linking Mobil road to Ogombo, Igbo-efon linking Alpha Beach road etc.
*The need for street light to deter criminals loitering around in the dark.
*The need for proper street numbering.
- Emphasis was also laid on the influx of homeless women, and youths(both sexes) coming in from other States or other parts of Lagos State to contribute nuisance and perpetrate heinous crimes in the communities around.
- Construction of more Primary Health Centers easily accessible to people living in the interior part of Eti-Osa and lastly the enforcement of proper waste disposal, for a cleaner environment.
The Secretary to the Local Government Hon. Idowu Badru, in his response charged the CDA’s and the CDC to be responsible for enforcing proper management of their community, noting that they should be able to collectively work together to help the Government achieve a better society. He affirmed the proactive measures constantly displayed by the Environmental health department at always clearing out drainages to safeguard the community against flood when it rains.
He stated that works are already in pipeline to install solar powered street lights round Eti-Osa, the project he claimed is tagged Operation Light Up Eti-Osa. He however pleaded with the people to bear with the administration for not being able to complete certain projects as fast as expected, most especially some capital intensive projects like the completion of Lafiaji road, attributing that to some challenges.
He picked on their concerns about street numbering, drawing the participants attention to non adherence to the stipulated guidelines for construction of buildings which in turn makes numbering of houses difficult. he pledged that the Local Government Administration would set up a committee to find a lasting solution to the problem.
The CDC Chairman, Alhaji Lateef Moshood expressed his sincere appreciation to the Executive Chairman and his entire cabinet for their relentless efforts in the transformation of Eti-Osa. He appealed to people to put all their meaningful pressing needs into writing, addressed to the Executive Chairman, copying the budget department for proper capturing.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Chairman on Special Duties, Mr Abiodun Maiyegun while delivering the vote of thanks appreciated the people who took out time from their busy schedules to participate in developing Eti-Osa Local Government, he called on well meaning stakeholders to partner with the Local Government as a form of Corporate social responsibilities and contribute in making Eti-Osa Local Government great.
Notably present are, the Leader of the House and other Legislative members, the Executive members, APC party chieftains such as Mr. Mondiu Shade, Alhaji Jamiu Muibi, key council functionaries, residence and other distinguished stakeholders.
