It was amidst pomp and pageantry that Christmas was celebrated yesterday in Eti Osa Local Government as residents, community leaders, youths and children joined the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for the Christmas celebration party powered by the State.
The party which was held simultaneously in the 20 Local Governments of Lagos State was brought to the doorsteps of the Local Governments,
Eti Osa had its share of the Christmas fun at Eti Osa Locai Government Secretariat, Igbo Efon.
The Governor who was ably represented at the occasion by Hon. Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi commended the people of Eti Osa for the large turn out. While identifying with them on the joyous occasion, he preached love, peace and oneness in the interest of the State and the Nation in general.
The First Lady of Lagos State represented by Princess Rashidat Abiodun Adu, the Executive Chairman of Iru/Victoria Island Local Council Development Area affirmed that the decentralization of the celebration is specifically designed to bring the Yuletide festivities to the grassroots and serve as a basis to promote bonding among the people of the state. She however stated that this unique season is a time of giving and forgiving, a time to reflect on our activities and make necessary adjustments. Therefore as we mercy, we should remind ourselves of the need to cohabit peacefully, harmoniously and offer special supplication for the less privilege.
Earlier in his address,, Mr. Salisu Waheed Adekunle who represented the Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mrs. Uzamat Akingbile-Yusuf implored the people of Eti Osa to work towards improving social activities for peaceful coexistence and stability of the State.
The Executive Chairman of Eti Osa Local Government, Hon Saheed Adesegun Bankole in his vote of thanks appreciated the initiatives of the Governor of Lagos State for putting up this laudable program, he stated that it has no doubt foster unity among the community members regardless of their religious affiliation. Bankole also appreciated the Governor for his strategic approaches towards addressing the challenges of road network in the State.
He concluded by calling for modesty and peaceful conduct of residents during the yuletide season
